Karen's Dorm Decor

Stephanie and I finally moved in on August 25th! Since then, our lives have been pretty hectic, filled with all sorts of organized activities and late night adventures. The first major milestone during this whole process was decorating my dorm (and figuring out how to hang this gigantic tapestry, courtesy of Urban Outfitters). I wanted to create a "homey" feel, so I filled my wall with black & white prints of family and friends. While I'm looking forward to my life in the world's most exciting city, I can't forget all the fond memories I have of South Brunswick.

Many more things to come,
Karen

Canal Casual

Top: H&M
Shorts: American Eagle
Clutch: Urban Outfitters
Wedges: PacSun

Stephanie and I have a mild obsession with the local canal. On top of this roof, we like to watch people kayak, gaze at the stars, and talk about life. It will definitely be hard finding a spot like this in New York, and I'm being a realist when I say we probably won't. I wore a very casual summer outfit on today's canal escapades. It's a breezy silk top, paired with my favorite denim shorts...perfect for any hot day!

Infinite amounts of love,
Karen

Stephanie: Rooftop Adventures

Collared Top: Forever 21
High Waisted Shorts: Urban Outfitters
Jazz Shoes: Shoe the Bear
Necklace: Jezie Jewelry

Took these on the roof overlooking the lake, one of my favorite places to watch the sunset and just admire the view. I love my Fuji Instax Mini camera! It takes the cutest polaroids which I'm planning on hanging on my wall in my college dorm room. Off to have dinner with my friend before she leaves for college. In ten days Karen and I will be moving to New York City and that is completely surreal.

With love,
Stephanie.

A Picturesque Day

Spent the Sunday reliving childhood because of our friend Bhupali's graduation/birthday party, bounce house and all. Then watched the sunset from our high school bleachers, which was strange because it is a place we will no longer be attending. Watching the sunset and stargazing are two of the things we love to do the most.

Karen: Paint it, Black

1993 Gucci Bag: Mom's Closet
Maxi Dress: Forever 21
Black Sunhat: NYC Boutique
Wedges: PacSun

Even on the sunniest of days, I find myself wearing all black. I found this dress while rummaging through the racks of a local forever 21. By pairing it with my favorite sunhat and wedges, I kept this look classic yet casual. The Chanel bag was a gift from my mom. She bought it in Venice twenty years ago, and decided it was my time to get some use out of it!

Black & White Picnic

Yesterday we got together with our favorite gals for a "family" picnic, complete with matching outfits and made-for JCPenney portraits. For the main course, we had pesto pasta with freshly grated parmesan cheese and tomatoes. This was served with a side of homemade fruit salad and potato salad. We also had the finest sparkling cider our local target had to offer, served in elegant cups of course. As for dessert, we had a cookie-brownie medley and black and white cookies (specifically picked to fit the theme). We've grown really close to these girls, and we hate to think of this picnic as our "last supper". This is something we'd definitely like to do again... something we're already planning to do again.

Stephanie: A Dustland Fairytale

Hat: Karen's Closet
Bralette: Brandy Melville
Dress: H&M
Shoes: Target

I wore this outfit out to lunch with Karen at the Cheesecake Factory. All black outfits are my favorite and I love that you can see the design of the bralette in the back of the dress. Stumbled upon this nature trail by walking through a musty tunnel but it was worth it! (Been listening to The Killers lately so they inspired this blog post title.)

Have a lovely day,
Stephanie.

Throwback Thursday: Governor's Ball 2013

Three days of music at Randall's Island from June 7-9th.

Photographed by press photographers.

Front row for Icona Pop, one of the standout acts. Their set was full of energy and fun to dance to.

Front row for Kendrick Lamar as well! He was so considerate and threw water bottles at the crowd. Karen was lucky enough to have a sip of Kendrick Lamar's water bottle.

By far the best act of Gov Ball, the xx played music that was passionate, emotional and intense. They opened with one of our favorite songs, Try, which literally induced tears. A highlight of the night was receiving the set list at the end of their performance
.
In all, we saw Swear and Shake, Bear Mountain, The Knocks, Dinosaur Jr, Best Coast, Policia, Of Monsters and Men, Crystal Castle, Local Natives, Young the Giant, Robert Delong, Icona Pop, Paper Diamonds, Alt-j, Kendrick Lamar, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Steel Pulse, Deerhunter, Beirut, The xx and Kanye West.
